Hospice care is palliative care given to individuals with limited life expectancy of six month or less if their disease runs its natural course. The focus of North Mississippi Hospice is on meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patient, while fostering the highest quality of life possible. Care is provided to meet the individuals needs in the location that is most appropriate.
These levels of care include:
North Mississippi Hospice delivers care to various settings, which may be a home, skilled nursing facility or assisted living facility. This is routine hospice care for individuals that are not in crisis. No matter where you call home, we will be there to care for you and promote a comfortable environment.
If a patient has a crisis that requires close observation, continuous home care is provided. Continuous home care consists of mainly nursing care in the home to manage acute medical symptoms until the crisis has subsided.
If pain or symptoms cannot be managed at home, the patient may have to be admitted to a local hospital for general inpatient care. Once the symptoms are controlled the patient can return to their home for home hospice care.
Respite care is provided to give the caregiver a rest. Caring for a terminally ill patient can be difficult and tiring. Repite care provides care to the patient and at the same time gives the caregiver and family peace of mind knowing their loved one is receiving excellent care. Respite care is provided for five days.
